Great New Personal Communication Tool Through Google Wave

By Rich Benvin

One of the newest products to be introduced by Google is Google Wave. The product is a 2009 release and initial release is by invitation only. Google hopes that the product will replace both e-mail and instant messaging in the near future.

Using Wave, you will be able to work collaboratively with co-workers around the world to produce RFT files, videos, photos, maps and much more.

The wave allows any person that is a part of the group to insert a reply anywhere in the message and to make necessary edits. More participants can be added at any time. The playback feature allows participants to be brought back up to speed on the project by allowing any message to be rewound and played back showing the entire process.

Google Wave is going to be a great way for teams to work together on group projects. The features that Google has built into this program allows you to pass on meeting notes and share photos or videos of the meeting, even with online meetings. This will allow satellite office to brainstorm. In your down time, Google wave offers interactive games.

Google Wave will build on the best features of G-mail where messages remain as threads, but also adds many of the best features of instant messaging programs and more.

Currently Google Wave is in the development stage and you can only request an invitation. It is expected to remain in development stage throughout the remainder of 2009 and be open for full release sometime in 2010.

In the program, you will find such handy features as spelling and grammar check. In addition, a translator can convert documents into 40 different languages, once again making the service useful around the globe.

Google Wave will be in full release soon. Currently, you can request to be a part of the evaluation team, however you must wait for an invitation. - 29941
